What is the School Culture Survey and how do we use it?
Promoting a culture of good mental health
The School Culture Survey allows schools to set a baseline at the beginning of the year and a finale at the end of the year. This can help track year-round, overall efforts.
This survey is designed to evaluate a school’s culture and can be used to guide school communities in all MTSS-based activities, but particularly around mental health and school connectedness.
The Survey is made up of 8 questions/statements and all stakeholders, including students, school staff and families, should fill it out. We recommend having the pre-year survey completed within the first 3 weeks of the school year and post-year survey completed at the end of year. The pre-year survey will help identify areas of strength and challenges. The end of year survey will help you see any progress you have made through the school year. Some questions you are able to consider with the data are:
- Have your interventions been effective?
- Is there more you can do?
You can find the results of the School Culture Survey on the Erika’s Lighthouse Data Center dashboard. Once logged into the Resource Portal, simply copy and paste your school ID, which is on your MyPortal landing page, and paste it into the School ID field on the Data Center Dashboard.
